About John Silver
Born 1959 in Macclesfield Cheshire. UK. I am a professional artist and am (thankfully) known worldwide for my Canine artwork. Though I also paint many other subjects such as figuratives, nudes, fantasy, equestrian and landscapes. I have over 100 limited edition prints published by the major publishers over the last 25 years or so and also many self published prints.
I am self taught and I knew I wanted to be an artist by the age of five years old!
My other websites are at:
I have spent most of my life studying the techniques and knowledge of the Old Masters in great detail. Much of what they knew has been lost unfortunately, but with careful study and hard work, their "secrets" can still be found. My major influences have been Rembrant, Da Vinci, Titian, Caravagio, Vermeer and many others.
My work is in private collections all over the world, including those of many celebrities and British Royalty. I am also the only living artist to have work permanently hanging in the prestigious gallery of the Kennel Club in London, thus putting me forever in the history books! (Which is something I am extremely humbled by!)
My art career is something that I am very proud of and not a day goes by without me counting my blessings! I would like to thank all the collectors of my work and let them know how grateful I am for allowing me to continue my life as an artist. This is something that I enjoy, every minute of the day. So I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
I hope you enjoy looking at my art. If it gives someone, somewhere, a little satisfaction, then my life's work has been worthwhile.
